General description (3)
Description — 268 words · 1969 - M412 - Ward Beck Systems M412.jpg, page 1
The M412 multi-frequency reference oscillator is designed to be incorporated within a system and to provide selected frequencies with stable output amplitude at Iine and microphone levels Thus, the performance of an audio console r complete system may be rapidly assessed prior to operation: In addition, the reference tone provides a convenient method for multi-track alignment or set-up in the recording mode.
FEATURES: 10 selectable frequencies with balanced output 3 outputs 8dBm direct, 8dBm and ~6OdBm via audio switch The compact M412 is compatible with other Ward-Beck modular component designs for audio console and systems applications. Unit versatility is enhanced by the simple power requirement of 24Vdc, unregulated, making the M412 suitable for use in any system where auxiliary 24V Iamp or relay voltage exists Low distortion less than 0.2% The state-of-the-art circuitry utilizes operational amplifiers throughout, combined with the superior performance of unique FET AGC system to produce excellent amplitude stability between selected frequencies Actively balanced operational amplifiers present & balanced configuration at the utput: A balanced output resistive isolation network provides 8dBm 600 ohms direct , 8dBm 600 ohms and ~6OdBm 150 ohms via an alternate-action output switch_ Stable output better than t 0.2dB amplitude stability Operates from readily available 24Vdc Ten selectable frequencies are included in the M412 module; 20Hz , 30Hz , S0Hz _ 1OOHz , 500Hz, IkHz, SkHz , 10kHz _ 15kHz, and 20kHz.
As an option, an output level control may be accommodated directly on the front panel escutcheon. front panel status light illuminates to indicate the presence of tone when the alternate-action pushbutton is depressed. Operational amplifier design with FET AGC

Adjustments — 66 words · 1969 - M412 - P5.jpg, page 1
R21 This resistor controls the amount of AGc correction provided by Ql and, therefore, is adjusted to give the best amplitude stability with different frequency selections NOTE: There is compromise adjustment between amplitude stability and harmonic distortion R29 With the frequency control set to 20 Hz , adjust for minimum distortion. The adjustment is made in small increments while obgerving the digtortion at the oscillator output
