Input Termination

The input impedance of the D8204 is jumper selectable for 75 Ohm, 110 Ohm or HiZ. Unless otherwise specified, the unit is shipped with the input impedance jumper set for 75 Ohm. The two position berg header labelled INPUT TERMINATION is marked 75 and 110 Ohm. Ensure that the transmission line is properly terminated to avoid reflections due to impedance mismatches. When HiZ is required, the jumper should be removed from the D8204.

Equalization

For most applications, the D8204 only requires installation in the appropriate mounting frame and connection of input and output wiring. Factory calibrated, the D8204 can recover digital audio signals conforming to AES/EBU specifications and transmitted over 75 Ohm, coaxial cable up to 600 metres (2000 ft) long. For cables lengths in excess of 600 metres, we recommend that the input equalization be activated.

To activate the cable equalization, simply press the button located on the front edge of the card. The yellow LED located on the bottom of the LED array will illuminate to indicate that cable equalization is activated.

*In order to utilize all eight outputs, the D8204 must be installed in a legacy MF82/10 frame using the BNC3 terminal assembly.

STATUS TALLIES AND MONITOR Status

The D8204 is equipped with three LED status tallies located on the front edge of the card above the handle. The function of these tallies are:

GREEN LED LOCK - Indicates that the receiver is locked to the incoming AES/EBU signal. RED LED NO LOCK - Indicates that the receiver cannot lock to the incoming signal. This may mean that there is no signal or the signal is beyond the recoverable range of the receiver and may require equalization. YELLOW LED EQUALIZER - Indicates that the cable equalization has been enabled
